Race Dates
Start: Aug 5, 2026
End: Aug 17, 2026
For the record this is not an incorporated race. There are no profits made. This is a journey run. I will do my best to ensure you all have a chance at success. I expect you all to do the same for each other.
Pre-Run Lodging
Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn are both about 1.5 miles from the start.
The Course
After last year there are a few small changes. The final route will be emailed out in early June. Familiarize yourself with Google Maps and Gaia. Reception will be limited, so offline navigation is essential. Apps like iOverlander can help find free camping, water, and amenities. A downloadable GPX file will be available on the runner dashboard. You can use this with most navigation apps.
Check In
Check in is required every 12 hours at 7:25 am and 7:25 pm. You can check in via the runner dashboard. If you are not able to check in it is your responsibility to have someone check in for you. They will need your username and password to log in for you. Please make sure your emergency contact knows how to do this. This applies for all runners.
GPS & Safety
Due to the size of dead zones I ask that you carry a gps tracker. It won’t be uncommon to lose reception for a couple days. That doesn’t mean you need to go buy a new $400 gps tracker. We just need verification you’re still alive within 3 hrs of check in. If you have a gps device that can send a text; that works. You could also use an app like Garmin Connect - share your location with your emergency contact check in for you. Make sure to test this functionality. If you are crewed you will still be required to check in. That may mean your crew will need to drive to where there's reception and check in for you. If you are screwed make sure your emergency contact know's how to check in for you.
Outside of GPS, I will not make any gear mandatory. I want you to take your safety into your own hands. Regardless of the gear you have if you are not thinking clearly you could be risking serious injury or death. If you have doubts, get some food and sleep. There’s no reason to rush. First place gets the same as last place. Be aware of your surroundings (for you and crew if you have them). Treat all animals with respect. Take care of each other. There will be times of isolation and time to work as a team.
Cut Offs
If you miss a cutoff, it’s your responsibility to get home. Resources may be pooled, but returning might be an adventure itself.

DNF
What to do if you decide to call it quits? First, get a place to get some sleep and food. If you still decide to call it I will provide some phone numbers you must let someone know. Getting rides back will be a group effort of anyone involved and possibly public transportation.
Rules
There’s not much to gain by cheating. That said, here are things I will consider cheating and will result in a disqualification.
- Traveling any distance in a car. You are not allowed to leave the course via car and be brought back to the same spot. You may leave via foot and walk back to the course.
- Littering either by you or your crew. There’s enough garbage out there already, we should not be contributing.
- Endangering yourself or others. This should go without saying, but it’s worth a mention
- Disrespecting private property
